CONTEXTS

Materials surrounding us each live within their own unique time. Glass can be born from fleeting phenomena such as volcanic eruptions or lightning strikes, while wood carries the traces of life accumulated through many years of growth. CONTEXTS explores these temporal layers embedded in materials, not as mere records of the past, but as multiple contexts that can be reconnected to the present through the act of design. Lighting, stools, and vessels—through these everyday forms, time shifts from an abstract idea into something tangible, something people can touch and use. Moving between industrial precision and the ethics embedded in craftsmanship, the project reconsiders the relationship between the time contained in materials and our contemporary lives.
