Aida Mahmudova studio showcase

Aida Mahmudova Studio presents a special commission by Aida Mahmudova at 5VIE Design Week, bringing together new works that explore material memory and contemporary craft. From the Elysium Series (2024–25) features handwoven carpets produced in collaboration with artisanal workshops across Azerbaijan. Rooted in a centuries-old weaving tradition, the works reinterpret the carpet as a sculptural surface, where rhythm, geometry, and layered textures create a dialogue between heritage and spatial form. The ceramic series Beyond Utility (2024–26) extends Mahmudova’s material research into clay and glaze experimentation. Using locally sourced elements such as oil, ash, sand, and stone, the vessels transform functional forms into tactile objects that hold traces of landscape and personal memory.
